Anzu Mazaki
Anzu is the childhood friend of Yuugi Mutou. Anzu is very kind hearted and extremely loyal to her friends.Anzu is mostly "the cheerleader" of the group. She doesn't usually duel but she's always there to encourage and support her friends.
In the Toei Animated series she wasn't always friends with Honda and Jounuchi. She used to take up for Yuugi whenever he was being bullied by Jounuchi or Honda. She used to scare them away when they picked on Yuugi. She was also friends with a girl named Miho who unfortunately wasn't in the later Yuugiou series. Anzu, Miho and Honda once worked together at a restaurant called Burger world. Once that place closed, Honda and Miho get a job at another restuarant.
Anzu has feelings for Yuugi and Yami no Yuugi. She gets really jealous when other girls flirt with Yuugi. Though it's not possible for her and Yami no Yuugi to have a real relationship since he has to go back to Ancient Egypt. It is possible for her and Yuugi to have one.
Anzu's dreams is to become a dancer. It's why she takes on different jobs to save money. In the Toei Animated version she tells Yuugi and Jounuchi of her dreams to become a dancer while working at Burger World. Anzu is one of the first to realize that there is "another Yuugi" living inside of Yuugi.
Anzu was not actually invited to Duelist Kingdom but instead was a stowaway with Honda. It ended up being a good thing that they were there when Jounuchi jumped over the side of the boat to retreive Yuugi's Exodia cards. Because of Yami no Bakura she was turned into her favorite duel monster card (Magician of Faith.) She was returned to normal because Yami no Yuugi defeated him.
The only time Anzu duels during Duelist Kingdom is with Mai and it was for Yuugi. Anzu had an immediate disliking of Mai because of her personality. Anzu actually had no chance of defeating Mai but she was brave for taking her on to help Yuugi. Mai would have won if she didn't make the choice to surrender and let Anzu win.
Anzu x Mai was actually the first Shoujo-Ai pairing I liked. Even though they didn't start out as friends, the relationship between them changes. Anzu x Mai do eventually become good friends and Anzu gets really upset when Jounuchi makes her feel all alone for not telling her the truth about being in his dream. Anzu is the first to be erased form Mai's memories by Yami no Malik leaving Mai visibly upset.
Anzu doesn't actually duel in Battle City but she was manipulated by Malik just like Jounuchi was. If anyone interfered in the Jounuchi and Yuugi duel, her life would have been in danger. Seto interfered and saved her.
The next time Anzu duels is during Noa's Arc. She duels against one of the members of the big five (the penguin.) Her deck master is the Black Magician Girl.She does win and after the fight she's reunited with Yuugi.
She doesn't duel anymore after the Noa's Arc series. That's fine because Anzu isn't that into dueling. Unlike most of her friends, that's not what she seems to be interested in. She has her own goals and dreams. She wants to go to New York City and become a dancer.
Anzu and Shizuka become very close and get an episode together. It's just a filler to wrap up all that happened. But it was a sweet episode that showed the two girls hang out together. Even though Shizuka isn't shown anymore, I do realize that Anzu and Shizuka will meet up again because of her friendship with Jounuchi.
